Let me start by saying this: hitting publish on my first book was one of the most terrifying and exhilarating moments of my life—right up there with learning how to wing eyeliner and figuring out how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew. But oh, the lessons I’ve learned along the way! And because I believe in full transparency (and maybe saving another writer from rocking in a corner), here are a few things I wish I had known before clicking "publish."

1. Just Buy Your Own ISBNs. Trust...

Some people meticulously outline their books, crafting detailed character sheets, mapping out every single plot twist, and making flowcharts that look like they belong in a NASA mission briefing. I am not one of those people. I am a pantser through and through, which means I sit down, open a blank document, and just... go. No map, no GPS, just a vague idea and a whole lot of reckless optimism.
